Children's Programs
Thank you for visiting the Children's Program page for the Center for Gifted Education.
We will not present programs for students rising into Pre-K and K in June of 2025.
Our Screening Window is currently closed for Pre-K and K students.
We do not require Gifted and Talented identification to participate in our Fall and Spring programs.
We do require admission to the Center for Gifted Education to participate in the Summer Programs presented by the Center for Gifted Education.
See below for New Students for the Application Process.
The Center for Gifted Education provides unique opportunities for high-ability students to attend enrichment programs at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the surrounding University of Louisiana at Lafayette locations. The programs enable students to explore specialized topics not typically studied in the regular classroom. Students must qualify for admission to the Programs presented by the Center for Gifted Education. Students in Pre-K through 5th grade not identified and enrolled in a Gifted and Talented program will qualify for admission via parent and teacher checklists. Students in 6th grade, and above, will qualify via a score review of a standardized test.
Screening Window for Admission to the Summer Programs presented by the Center for Gifted Education:
Our screening window is currently closed.
All new participants must submit a one-time, non-refundable, $25.00 Application for Admission. Upon submission of the application fee the parent will receive the parent checklist, and we will send a teacher checklist to the teacher listed in the application. The application fee will cover the review of the parent and teacher checklists, and any standardized test scores by Dr. Bruce-Davis. She will determine student qualifications for participation in the Summer Programs presented by the Center for Gifted Education.
New students in a Parish GT Program must submit a one-time, non-refundable, $25.00 application fee. You do not need to submit the name and email address of a Teacher to whom we can send the checklist. Identified students must submit the 1st page of their most recent IEP, or the Welcome letter from the Gifted and Talented Program. Older students (5th grade and above) who are NOT in a Parish GT Program will require a score review to determine qualification for admission.
Identified GT Program students do not need to submit scores for review.
Returning Students:
Students previously accepted into the Center for Gifted Education programs have the status of Returning Students.
