About Us

In the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, we offer undergraduate and graduate degrees designed to give you the tools to place K-12 students on trajectories of success.

Our department produces more teaching graduates than any other university in Louisiana, and our graduates are equipped the teaching strategies and practices based on proven research and best practices. With your degree from UL Lafayette, you use these proven strategies to affect change in schools throughout the state, can empowering the next generation of children from birth through high school. That means showing children and young adults what it means to be excited about learning, and creating an environment where they can flourish through active learning.

Our faculty bring in millions of research dollars to explore and determine the best methods and materials to use for teaching and learning. Our centers focus on advocacy and research of gifted and talented learners, best practices for teaching reading to young children, and research and development of technologies for enhancing learning.
