Career Opportunities - MAT Elementary Education & French Immersion
US Bureau of Labor Statistics expects new jobs for elementary school teachers to grow by 17% by 2020, with much of that need happening in the South.
Immersion programs have shown a 95% growth since 2006 and French is the second most popular language in immersion programs. Many states are expanding their immersion programs, and with this expansion comes the need for qualified immersion educators.
Every year, 150 French immersion teachers are recruited from abroad to fill the current need in Louisiana. The state has also adopted legislation that promotes the expansion of immersion programs, creating an even greater need for qualified immersion educators. Wait-listing students for immersion programs is common.
