Summer Scholars Residential & Commuter Program

Sunday, June 2, 2019 - 9:00am to Friday, June 7, 2019 - 3:30pm

The Center for Gifted Education provides unique opportunities for high-ability students to attend enrichment programs at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the surrounding University of Louisiana at Lafayette locations. The programs enable students to explore specialized topics not typically studied in the regular classroom.

The Rising 7th through 10th grade program has a residential option such that the students can reside in dormitories on our lovely UL Lafayette campus and a commuter option that allows for students to attend daily and return home every night. This program focuses on developing intellectual, leadership, and/or creative skills of Rising 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grade students. Students who attend our summer programs generally demonstrate high levels of potential in their school work, the arts, or their daily lives. This program gives students a small look into a whole new world of what college is like—walking back and forth between classes and to the dorm, eating on campus, and engaging in campus activities to name a few.

Students previously accepted into the Center for Gifted Education programs have the status of Returning students. Beginning in 2018-2019 ALL students must submit a parent checklist and teacher checklist to be considered for admission to the Center for Gifted Education.
